Liberty Instrumental Music Association (LHSGB&OPC)
General Membership Meeting
March 13, 2018
The meeting was called to order at 7:39 p.m. A motion to approve the minutes of the February
13 meeting was made by Lynne Zipprodt, seconded by Michelle Hoysan, and unanimously
passed by the membership.
Officer and Committee Reports
Shawn Bobyak entertained question about the February balance statement which was made
available before the meeting. Rose Miravich reported that quota amounts were up to date.
Meg Evans Gartley reported that notices will be sent out to those whose fair share payments
for the current year are still outstanding. Jocelyn D’Amico reported that the nominations for
officers for the 2018-2019 year are closed, but not all have been confirmed. A complete list will
be included in the newsletter and posted on the website.
Directors Reports
Allen Frank shared that:
Chloe Wilcox and Vivian Wong will be representing Liberty at the Regional Orchestra Concert in Dallas Pennsylvania.
The WIZARD OF OZ pit rehearsals have started and that members are predominantly students.
The Pipers and half of First Company will be performing at the Sands Event Center for the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District dinner on Tuesday, March 20.
Letters are available with information about how those who are interested can attend the event. There will be an 8:00 a.m. rehearsal at the site on Tuesday morning and the evening call is at 5:00 p.m.
The Red Hot Chili Pipers concert is Thursday and Tye Fry has been working with students this week.
Band concert dress rehearsals will be on Monday, March 19 and Thursday, March 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Call for the concerts will be 6:45 p.m.
New Business
In response to a question about tickets for volunteers, Meg explained that volunteers
receive concert tickets on the night for which they volunteer, with the exception of the door
openers who are required to work the entire concert. They receive tickets on the night they
do not volunteer. She explained that the lobby doors will open at 7:00 p.m. Seating will
begin at 7:00 for those with handicapped reservations and at 7:15 for general admission
tickets. She shared that there are still spots available on the Sign-Up Genius for the concert,
including door openers for Friday evening.
Meg confirmed that the orders for the pie sale are due on March 28 with pickup on April 14.
In response to a question she reported that the Senior Dinner is being planned and
invitations will go out to the seniors.
In response to a question about funds remaining in quota accounts, Meg explained that
only direct payments to a student’s quota account are refundable. A written request must
be received by May 15.
In response to a question about handicapped seating, Lynne Zipprodt explained that she will
send out confirmations for handicapped seating and parking.
Rose asked that gift baskets be brought in Thursday or Friday evenings.
In response to a question about the timetable for the Red Hot Chili Pipers concert, Allen
Frank confirmed that students will be carpooled to rehearsal in the morning, but would
need to be picked up by an adult at the end of the rehearsal at 3:00 p.m. They need to
return to the theatre at 5:00 p.m.
A parent shared that nurse Kathy Halkins’ mother died and that in the obituary was a
request for donations to be made to the Grenadier Band. Kathy Halkins has been the nurse
in charge during many of the band trips. Meg requested that Bob Wascura send a card to Kathy Halkins on behalf of the band.
