Mrs. Zettlemoyer (Band Seamstress):
- Hello! I am getting everything ready for the concert this weekend.
Mr. Frank (Band Director):
*Hello! Just a few schedule items…
*Orchestra/Choir Dress Rehearsal is this Thursday night from 5-8 PM.
*Concert is Friday–7 PM and Sunday–2 PM. If you want tickets…there are 9 left for Friday and there are a few left for Sunday as well. This concert is about 1 hour and 1o minutes long.
*Nitschmann’s Concert was great…Broughal’s concert and NE as well. We went to them.
*Many students auditioned for District Band and Orchestra. Scoring is done. Results are not yet in. I will notify students if they made it. District Band and Orchestra Festival will happen in January. Easton is hosting District Band. Catasauqua is hosting District Orchestra. Both festivals are local, in person, and multiple days.
*Athletics are District 11. Music is District 10.
*We are joining our colleagues and having some of our kids participate in Northampton County Band. We are allotted 26 students to participate because of our school size. A letter will be going out to students who we are inviting to participate. Concert is March 19th. This is something new for us. We are excited!
*We are going to have January Workshops where we meet with certain parts of the band in order to give kids an opportunity to participate in Master Classes with clinicians. We want to give the kids the opportunity to grow.
*Jazz Band–We will allow anyone that would like to participate to sign up…even if it is not a traditional Jazz Band instrument.
We are going to practice every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 AM. We will allow everyone to participate and learn the music and scales. We will start in January.
*January 8 is the 100 years of LHS Basketball. Pep Band will participate. Pep Band is optional. We have kids sign up to be sure that we can play. Please have your children sign up.
*8th Grade Band Auditions will be during finals week.
*We have a great jump start on the Spring Concert! We have been working hard!
*Two student teachers were with us. They have moved on to bigger and better things.
*Question–Is there going to be a 2022 band trip. Administration said that we could start looking around. We are researching smaller venues to play and travel. Ideally, a Spring 2023 trip would be an ideal scenario. We are looking at a few smaller trips and parades.
*Question–Any chance of Macy’s Day Parade? There may be a chance. We will see.
*Thank you for all you do…and thank you for your kids! They are working hard! Thank you for making this year what it was! We are all in this together. Looking forward to what the future holds.
Mr. Lennox (Assistant Band Directions):
*Send me your email and I will add you to the Music Google Classroom. It will go to spam first…so look for it.
*Last night, First Company recorded a program for Dr. Roy featuring PA Bands and Music Programs. We will be somewhere in the 8 hour video! We played one piece that will be shared on Social Media.
*I am taking a few students to Merrywood College for a music visit. I opened it up to First Co. students first. More information will follow.
Tina (President):
*Next meeting will be January 11th! Thanks for coming out tonight!
