General Membership Meeting
Aug 14, 2018
Britt Reifinger called meeting to order at 735pm.
Present at meeting: Entire Executive Board: Britt Reifinger, Meg Evans Gartley, Jason Applegate, Lynn Masters, Lynne Zipprodt, Kevin Long, Allen Frank and Ruth Zettlemoyer, various Fundraising Chairs, Volunteer Coordinator: Silagh White, Clinicians for our Band, representatives of: Mattie’s Strudel Haus, and many band parents and family members.
Introductions: Board, Captain Rennie and Mr. Lerch.
May Minutes presented, Lynne Zipprodt. Corrections noted.
Treasurer reports from May, June and July presented by Jason Applegate.
Assistant Treasurer remarks, Lynn Masters — process for any activity band does at school requires a lease.
LHSGBOPC 2018-19 Budget presented. Corrections noted. Budget will be voted on at September 2018 meeting.
VP report, Meg Evans Gartley
Definitions:
Quota=profit that students make from Fundraisers. Families are able to sign up so they can see Quota online at LHSGBOPC website.
Fair share=dues that students pay to the LHSGBOPC Organization. These are costs for the band that are not paid by the school district.
2018/19 Fair share is $150 for Band/Orchestra or $60 for Orchestra only students.
- Current/Ongoing Fundraisers:
- Hoagies. Chair Christian Evans Gartley. Every second Saturday of month. Requires student and adult participation. Clearances have to be submitted before participating. Students earn $2 per hoagie.
- Mateys Pizza- Orders due 8/26. Delivery 9/8.
- Gertrude Hawk. Ongoing Fundraiser. Boxed candy. Students earn $18
- Upcoming Fundraisers:
- Apple Dumplings, delivery in October
- Fall Pies, delivery before Thanksgiving
- Fall Flowers
- Strudel orders due in October
*Announcements are made about newly released fundraisers by Sunday night newsletter.
*Families should visit our website regularly for Fundraiser updates.
*Any person who has ideas for Fundraisers or wants to chair a fundraiser should review the Process for Fundraising Chairs. Copies are available from VP.
Report: Uniform Distribution and care: Mrs. Zettlemoyer: Summer sign up, fittings and distribution was a success. This has improved over recent years. Doing during the summer allows ample time for alterations, etc. Mrs. Z thanks all for signing up early so that much of the work could take place before band camp.
Mr. Frank Report
Reminder about Volunteer Clearances. They are valid 5 years. Copies of completed forms are given to Mr. Frank.
Mr. Long Report
Would like to see increased number of attendance at Parent meetings.
Directors provide information to students about report times, away games and responsibilities.

Old Business
501(c)(3) – Bob Wascura is heading this committee. Executive Board has engaged services of:
HSI (Humanitarian Social Innovations). Application, required adjustments to LHGSBOPC, and By-laws will be reviewed in 6 sessions. During this time we can use the 501(c)(3) status of HSI for any events we want to host. Local Business and Independent Businesses do not require 501(c)(3) status.
New Business
Student Senate wants to host a movie ‘night’ following Band Camp. Thor Ragnarok is proposed.
Car Wash/Tailgate: 8/26
Celtic Classic: for any students needing Community Service hours visit celticclassic.org. There will be a drawing for a $500 college scholarship.
