Dear Band,
Monday is fast approaching and the new season will be underway very soon! As we get ready to get things started, here is some information and reminders to help make the start of band camp successful.
#1) Band Camp starts at 8am on Monday, August 5th. Please arrive in time so that we may start rehearsal on time. All rehearsals are MANDATORY and part of your commitment to the program.
#2) Communication – Though it is an expectation that all members are at rehearsals, we know that there are some conflicts. Thank you to those who have already communicated with us. Should you have to miss for illness or an emergency, communication is essential. Please have a parent/guardian send an email to the directors in the event of absence.
#3) What should you bring? – All members should come fully prepared for rehearsal. Please have your instrument/equipment, music, proper footwear for marching (sneakers…no flip flops or sandals), pencil, sunscreen, and a water bottle! We will be outside for extended periods, so please take care of yourself.
#4) Breakfast & Lunch – Beginning on Tuesday, August 6, breakfast and lunch will be served in the cafeteria at NO COST to students. Breakfast will begin at 7:30am, so you have time to eat before you come up to the band room. Our lunch break from rehearsal will be coordinated to match the hours of the cafeteria. If you do not wish to take advantage of the free lunch, students are responsible for their own lunches during the break from rehearsal.
#5) Leadership – As a reminder, ALL leadership (section leaders/admins, quartermasters, captains, officers, librarians) will be having a leadership training on Sunday, August 4th from 9:30am-noon in the band room. This is an important session to get everybody started on the right track, as student leadership is essential to the success of the program.
